In 1868, a Boston watchmaker named Florentine Ariosto Jones sailed across the Atlantic to set up the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen. His goal was to combine the modern manufacturing technology of the Americans with the unrivalled expertise of Swiss craftsmen to produce the best pocket watch movements of his time. Today, IWC Schaffhausen remains true to the legacy of Jones. The company’s six watch families – the Pilot’s Watches, Portugieser, Portofino, Ingenieur, Aquatimer and Da Vinci – combine precision engineering with extraordinary and timeless design to bring unique emotions to their wearers’ wrists.

THE ICONS
Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Edition "Le Petit Prince"

Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Edition "Le Petit Prince"

The perpetual calendar designed in the early 1980s by Kurt Klaus comprises around 80 parts and independently recognizes the various lengths of the months and leap years. It will require no readjustment until 2100. The date, day, month, moon phase and year displays are perfectly synchronized with each other. If the watch has not been worn for some time, it can be reset merely by turning the crown. The IWC-manufactured 89630 calibre combines the perpetual calendar with a chronograph function. The calendar's moon phase display is integrated with the chronograph totalizer at "12 o'clock". This complicated Pilot's Watch is housed in an 18-carat 5N gold case. The special edition designed to honour "Le Petit Prince" features the typical midnight blue dial and is limited to just 250 watches.

Pilot's Watch Chronograph Spitfire

Pilot's Watch Chronograph Spitfire

The Pilot's Watch Automatic Spitfire remains true to the purist instrument design of the Mark 11 navigation watch, which was produced from 1948 onward for the British Royal Air Force. The new, IWC-manufaFor the first time ever, IWC presents a Pilot's Chronograph with a movement from the 69000-calibre family, housed in a reduced case size with a diameter of 41 millimetres. The IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre is a rugged chronograph movement with a classic column wheel design. It displays stopped hours and minutes in two subdials at "9 o'clock" and "12 o'clock". The bidirectional pawl-winding system builds up a power reserve of 46 hours. This chronograph with a bronze case, an olive green dial and a brown calfskin strap has a unique character. Depending on the use to which it is put, bronze develops a patina in the course of time and darkens in colour, giving the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Spitfire its own unmistakable character. A soft-iron inner case effectively shields the movement from magnetic fields. ctured 32110 calibre is featured for the first time in this functional timepiece. The robust automatic movement has bidirectional pawl-winding that builds up a power reserve of 72 hours. The watch comes in a case measuring an eminently wearable 39 millimetres in diameter. The case in stainless steel, the black dial and the brown calfskin strap were inspired by the colours found in the Spitfire's cockpit. A soft-iron inner case effectively shields the movement from magnetic fields.

Portofino Automatic Moon Phase

Portofino Automatic Moon Phase

In 1984, IWC created the Portofino collection. The family was named after the idyllic village on the Italian coast, which became an exclusive holiday destination for the international jet-set during the 1950s and 1960s. Since that day, Portofino watches have successfully combined the ease of the Mediterranean lifestyle with a touch of glamour and elegance. The Portofino Automatic Moon Phase is the first Portofino timepiece with a case diameter of 40 millimetres that also features a moon phase display. Until now, this popular complication was only offered in 45 millimetres or 37 millimetres. This timepiece is housed in a classic stainless steel case. The golden moon set against the blue night sky creates a beautiful contrast to the silver-plated dial, as well as the gold-plated hands and appliqués. This casual yet elegant watch is fitted with a hand-painted brown alligator leather strap.

Portofino Automatic 34

Portofino Automatic 34

Since 1984, Portofino watches have combined the ease of the Mediterranean lifestyle with a touch of glamour and timeless elegance. With its reduced diameter of 34 millimetres, the feminine and elegant Portofino Automatic 34 fits perfectly on slender wrists and offers a high wearing comfort. This model features a case made of precious 18-carat 5N gold. Appliqués made of solid gold, as well as the gold-plated hands, create a beautiful contrast to the silver-plated dial, on which twelve sparkling diamonds mark the hours. This ladies' watch is fitted with a hand-painted burgundy red alligator leather strap from the Italian shoe manufacturer Santoni. Thanks to an easy-to-use strap change system, and a choice of more than a dozen fashionable straps, the look of the timepiece can be adapted to different outfits or occasions in no time at all.
