In 1868, a Boston watchmaker named Florentine Ariosto Jones sailed across the Atlantic to set up the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen. His goal was to combine the modern manufacturing technology of the Americans with the unrivalled expertise of Swiss craftsmen to produce the best pocket watch movements of his time. Today, IWC Schaffhausen remains true to the legacy of Jones. The company’s six watch families – the Pilot’s Watches, Portugieser, Portofino, Ingenieur, Aquatimer and Da Vinci – combine precision engineering with extraordinary and timeless design to bring unique emotions to their wearers’ wrists. IWC has complete confidence in the quality of their products and is proud to introduce My IWC, the new customer care platform, with a 6-year extension to the original 2-year International Limited Warranty. Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42
IWC’s perpetual calendar, developed by Kurt Klaus in the 1980s, automatically recognizes the different lengths of the months and the leap years and can easily be adjusted via a single crown. Now, for the first time, the complication is integrated into a movement from the 82000-calibre family. The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 displays the date, month and weekday on three subdials at "3 o'clock", "6 o'clock" and "9 o'clock". It also features indications for the moon phase and the leap year. With the help of ceramic components, the IWC-manufactured 82650 calibre’s Pellaton winding system builds up a power reserve of 60 hours. This timepiece with a diameter of 42 millimetres has an 18-carat 5N gold case, a silver-plated dial, gold-plated hands, and 18-carat gold appliqués
Portugieser Automatic 40
A clearly organized and open dial, with the characteristic minutes scale and the small seconds at "6 o’clock"; IWC’s Reference 325 in the late 1930s established a classic design idiom that has run as a common thread through the history of the Portugieser family ever since. Now the timelessly modern design returns to the collection in a new automatic model with a compact case diameter of 40 millimetres. The Portugieser Automatic 40 is powered by the IWC-manufactured 82200 calibre. This robust, high-quality automatic movement has a Pellaton winding system with components made of virtually non-wearing ceramic, which builds up a power reserve of 60 hours. This model features a stainless-steel case, a blue dial, as well as rhodium-plated hands and appliqués. It is fitted with a black alligator leather strap. Thanks to the newly developed butterfly folding clasp, the watch is particularly comfortable to wear.
With a characteristic minutes scale, appliquéd Arabic numerals, and slender feuille hands, the Portugieser Automatic expresses the iconic Portugieser design very effectively. The small seconds and the power reserve display are located directly opposite each other at "3 o’clock" and "9 o’clock", which results in a very balanced dial design. This model features a stainless-steel case, a burgundy dial, as well as rhodium-plated hands and appliqués. Ensuring a precise rate is the IWC-manufactured 52010 calibre. The automatic Pellaton winding system features components made of virtually non-wearing ceramic and builds up a power reserve of seven days in two barrels. The decorated movement is visible through a transparent sapphire-glass back. The timepiece is fitted with a black alligator leather strap.
Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph
As a nautical sports watch, the Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph combines timeless elegance with ruggedness and a 6 bar water-resistance. These characteristics make it an extremely versatile timepiece that exudes a beautiful figure both on water and on land. The filigree bezel and flat case ring lend the case with its 44-millimetre diameter expressly elegant proportions. The dial of this sporty chronograph impresses with typical Portugieser design features such as the characteristic minute scale and the appliquéd Arabic numerals. This model combines a silver-plated dial with blue hands and appliqués. The IWC-manufactured 89361 calibre with flyback function displays the stopped times combined in a single totalizer at "12 o’clock" and features a power reserve of 68 hours. The high-quality stainless-steel bracelet with polished and satin-finished surfaces ensures a perfect fit on the wrist.
