Nivada was founded in 1926 in Grenchen, Switzerland, and it quickly built a reputation as a producer of purpose-built tool watches that could handle whatever was thrown at them. These watches included the Antarctic, the Depthmaster, the Datomaster, Dephtomatic, and, of course, the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver. Unfortunately, like many of our favorite vintage brands, NIvada Grenchen was a casualty of the Quartz Revolution in the 1970s. It wasn’t until 2020 that a plan to bring the company back to its former glory was officially unveiled.
Chronomaster - Broad Arrow « Tropical Dial »
The powerful features that pack this iconic chronograph are powered by the Sellita SW510 BH B movement which allows the timepiece to be either automatically (SW510 BH b) or manually wound (SW510 M BH b). Various choices for its hands and dials are also available, so you can choose from Broad Arrow to Lollipop, and Orange Boy to Panda. Definitely a classic with leading edge preferences.
Chronoking - Manual
The Chronoking is distinguished by its unusual date located at 12 o’clock and two-grey debossed sub dials. The beautiful Super Luminova hour-marks are highlighted when the powerful red hands smoothly glide over them. The black aluminum bezel, with distinguishable large numerals, creates a bold personality to the watch. The 38 mm diameter stainless steel case with screw-down back is a testament to the watch robust and edgy design.
This Super Antarctic reissue also started on Instagram, following a post of one of our great followers who had the great idea to share his vintage timepiece with us. We shared it in the stories and got so many messages that we knew it was our mission to make it again with the same original spirit and guts. But with modern standards (Sapphire Glass) and Swiss automatic movement (Soprod P024) with screw-down crown offering a 10 ATM water resistance. The Super Antarctic is a faithful reedition of the vintage one with a matte black dial and three Swiss Super luminova options, cream, white and green. Diameter is contained to 38 mm and lugs to lugs to 45 mm with a great thickness of 11,1 mm. You will notice the legendary gold medallion on the caseback
White Pacman Date - Depthmaster
Unique and definitely with an edge, the Depthmaster comes with its iconic Art Deco dial and its iconic cushion case. A highly original and important model in dive watch history, it also comes with a screw-down case-back and crown, an unidirectional rotating diver’s bezel with a 120 clicks & 15-min scale, and 1000 meters of water-resistance secured by an automatic Helium valve.
