CHRISTIAAN VAN DER KLAAUW – THE VENUS ZODIAC AND THE VENUS ANNUAL CALENDAR
Naarden, April 2026 – Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches presents 2 new models, the Venus Zodiac and the Venus Annual Calendar

Seen from Earth, Venus is, after the Sun and the Moon, the clearest object in the sky and has about the same size, mass and composition as earth. Nevertheless, living on the planet Venus is impossible as the average temperature is 462 degrees Celcius (864°F) and its atmospheric pressure is 90 times more that of planet earth.

These two new Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Masterpieces are both equipped with the – in 2024 introduced – CKM-01 movement with the newly developed extremely sophisticated astronomical Venus module. The dial consists of 4 separate discs, of which 3 discs are rotating and carrying the celestial bodies, Venus, Earth and Moon.

The dials shows a planetarium, a part of our solar system. The real time position and orbits of the planet Venus and planet earth around the sun as well as the position and the orbit of the moon around planet earth.

THE VENUS ZODIAC

The Venus Zodiac has a beautiful blue Aventurine dial, representing the night sky in a graceful and poetic way, it shows the sign of the Zodiac in which the Sun is located. Each marker between the zodiac signs is the start of a new zodiac, usually around the 21 st of each month. This astronomical masterpiece shows the phases of the moon in an unusual and innovative manner.

If the Moon is exactly between the Sun and the Earth, it is a ‘new Moon’. If the Earth is between the Moon and the Sun, it is a ‘full Moon’.

THE VENUS ANNUAL CALENDAR

The Venus Annual Calendar is the more technical interpretation of the models and carries its celestial bodies on the refined sunray finished dial. On the outside ring, the Annual Calendar shows the days of the month in black and white rail track, housed in sections of each month, indicating the length of that particular month.

The Venus Annual Calendar needs only one correction every 4 years, the corrections can be done very conveniently via the crown. On the discs that carry the planets you can find particular information, like earth’s orbit time around the sun that take 365.2 days. The orbital speed of the earth around the sun is a mind boggling 107’206 Km per hour, that of Venus is even faster at 126’071 Km per hour.

The time that Venus needs to make one full orbit around the sun is 224.7 days. The dial displays the phases of the moon, as well as its orbit time and speed.
